LIFE Trading Card Game (LIFE TCG) is a modern collectible card game with an unusually grounded premise: every card represents a real animal species, and the rarest cards are printed in numbers that directly reflect how many of those animals still exist in the wild.
The result is a trading card game that sits at the intersection of collecting, strategy, education, and conservation and one that is quietly attracting attention from both traditional TCG collectors and people who might never have opened a booster pack before but are interested in nature.
If you are already collecting Life TCG, then we have great news for you. It is now fully supposed on HoloHoard TCG Collector App, enabling you to keep track of the cards you own, make trade lists, wish lists and more. If you are new to this TCG, keep reading below for a proper introduction.
The Core Idea Behind LIFE TCG
At its core, LIFE TCG is built around awareness.
Today, around 60% of mammals on Earth are livestock, 36% are humans, and only 4% are wild animals. LIFE TCG was created to reflect that imbalance in a tangible way, not through abstract statistics, but through scarcity you can physically hold.
Each card in LIFE TCG represents a species, complete with stats used for gameplay. But unlike most trading card games, rarity is not artificially assigned. Instead, it is tied to conservation data (when it comes to holo variants at least).
Population-Matched Holographic Cards
The defining feature of LIFE TCG is its 1st Edition Holographic cards. For these cards, the print run is capped at the estimated population of the animal in the wild, up to a maximum of 5,000 copies. If an animal is critically endangered, the card is genuinely rare. If the population is larger, more copies exist — but still in limited numbers.
A commonly cited example is the Mountain Gorilla. With an estimated wild population of roughly 1,000 individuals, only 1,000 holographic Mountain Gorilla cards were ever printed. Once those cards entered circulation, no additional copies could be produced.

This approach gives LIFE TCG a form of scarcity that is transparent, verifiable, and tied to real-world outcomes rather than arbitrary rarity tiers.
The One-of-One Earth Car
In the first LIFE TCG set, there is exactly one card that is not an animal. That card is Earth.
Only one holographic Earth card exists. It is a true one-of-one, making it one of the rarest modern trading cards produced in any category. Its existence reinforces the thematic message of the game: there is only one planet, and everything else in the set depends on it. The non-holo version, on the other hand, is
Sets Released So Far
The first LIFE TCG set, Mammals, introduced the concept and established the core rarity structure. It includes holographic, rare, uncommon, and common cards, all tied to real species, plus the unique Earth card. The Mammals set has since sold out.
The second major release, Birds, expanded the same concept to endangered bird species. Like Mammals, it followed population-based holographic printing and has also sold out at retail level.
In addition to the main sets, LIFE TCG has released promo cards, including a WWF-themed Panda promo, bringing the total number of unique cards across releases to 190.

Further expansions, including additional wildlife categories, have already been announced for 2026.
How LIFE TCG Is Played
Although many collectors approach LIFE TCG from a completion or rarity perspective, it is a actually a playable game as well.
Players build decks using animal cards and compete based on the stats and mechanics printed on each card. Strategy, deck construction, and matchup decisions matter, but trading and collecting remain central to the ecosystem.
This dual focus allows LIFE TCG to function both as a game and as a long-term collectible project. The Discord community of fans has come up with more sophisticated game play rules, which might be officially adopted in the future.
Transparent Production Numbers
LIFE TCG distinguishes itself further by publishing its production figures openly.
Across its releases, approximately 2.5 million cards were produced, including around 165,000 holographic cards and 110,000 rare cards. Sealed products were also printed in clearly defined quantities, with fixed runs for booster boxes, starter boxes, mini boxes, and promo boxes.

This level of transparency is uncommon in trading card games (we have seen this level of transparency in a very few other IPs, such as BTC Trading Cards) and has contributed to collector confidence, particularly among those wary of hidden reprints or shifting rarity odds.
WWF Partnership and Conservation Funding
LIFE TCG is officially partnered with WWF-UK, one of the world’s leading environmental charities.
A portion of each sealed product sale is donated directly to WWF-UK, with LIFE TCG committing to a minimum donation of £30,000 between October 2024 and October 2027. Funds are directed toward projects focused on habitat protection and wildlife restoration.
The partnership reinforces that LIFE TCG is not simply themed around conservation, but it actively contributes to it.
Collecting LIFE TCG Today
With early sets sold out and future releases planned, LIFE TCG has developed a growing secondary market and collector base. Completing sets, tracking holographic populations, managing promos, and preparing for future expansions has become increasingly complex as the card pool grows.
For collectors who want a structured way to manage their LIFE TCG collection — including sets, rarities, and future releases — digital collection tools like HoloHoard now support LIFE TCG alongside other trading card games. This allows collectors to catalog what they own, identify gaps, and keep their collection organized as new wildlife sets arrive.

A Different Kind of Trading Card Game
LIFE TCG stands out because its scarcity is meaningful, its theme is grounded in reality, and its impact extends beyond collecting.
It is a game about wildlife, built with transparency, and designed to make conservation visible — one card at a time.
As future sets expand into new species and ecosystems, LIFE TCG is positioning itself not just as a novelty, but as a long-term collectible project with a purpose.
